The VolX Concept
|
|

The Volatility Exchange has developed patented, standardized financial instruments based on the inter-day realized volatility of an underlying asset. VolX offers VolContract futures, and plans to offer VolShare securities, VolSwap instruments, VolOption contracts, VolETF securities, and VolETN securities to market participants seeking advanced risk-management tools in a regulated and transparent environment. In addition, it has designed the VolX indices to guide trading decisions.
The Exchange plans to file with the Commodity Futures Trading
Commission (CFTC) to be a Designated Contract Market (DCM). It
will partner with established marketplaces globally and
as an exchange will outsource its around-the-clock trading
execution, clearing, compliance, and surveillance functions.
The strategy is not to compete with current exchanges
but to take portfolio diversification and risk control
to the next level.

VolContract Futures
|
|

The flagship products, VolContract futures, are instruments whose settlement is based on the realized volatility of an underlying asset, instrument, or index. The contracts are available in durations of one month, three months, and, subsequently, one year, and expire to the actual close-to-close volatility displayed by the asset, as calculated by the VolX formula. Never before have market participants had access to such a powerful risk-management tool that can be traded simply, efficiently, and at low cost.
VolContract futures promise to be the next generation in volatility
trading, worldwide.

VolX Quick Start
|

What is The Volatility Exchange?
The Volatility Exchange is currently not an official, regulated exchange. This is what we aspire to be. Our first step toward that goal is to prove the concept. To do so, the most efficient route is to license our methodology to existing exchanges. After we show that the idea is sound and that there is demand, we will then map out the best path toward becoming our own exchange.
Where do VolX products trade?
VolX will license its methodology to existing exchanges. Since we have realized volatility products in various formats, such as futures, options, securities, exchange-traded funds, exchange-traded notes, and even over-the-counter instruments, VolX can, and expects to, list its products on various futures, securities, and options exchanges.
Which VolX products are currently available?
The first and only instrument that is currently listed is our flagship product, VolContract futures, based on the CME Euro FX futures. The VolX Euro FX VolContract futures began trading in February 2011. The product is listed on CME Globex. It is cleared through the CME clearing house.
Which VolX products are coming soon?
VolX recently signed an agreement with NASDAQ OMX to list VolX NASDAQ-100 products. We are currently in negotiations with several exchanges to host these products.
